Accessories for Your Motorcycle
Obviously, your motorcycle already comes with a plethora of great features to enhance your riding experience. From comfortable seating to durable tires, your bike is made to give you peak performance at every turn. But you can always make things better! There are several different accessories that you can easily and affordably add to your bike to make your riding experience safer and even more comfortable, although the selection can be somewhat overwhelming for a new owner.
Here in Westminster, Indian Motorcycle® of Orange County is proud to be your local motorcycle dealership. To help you properly outfit your motorcycle with the right accessories, we’ve written out this list of the top accessories that we think are worthy of your consideration.
Extra Storage Options
The storage compartments on your bike are sufficient for most things, but if you want to go on longer trips or if you commute to work on a regular basis, you’ll need to add on some additional storage compartments. Plus, even the stuff you have to carry for each ride might take up more room than you’ve got, like a tool kit, a first-aid kit, rain gear, extra clothes, flashlight and so forth.
Fortunately, there are plenty of options for motorcycle storage compartments! Choose between saddlebags in a durable fabric, luggage racks, top-side boxes, bags that mount to your windshield and so forth. Some storage might be removable, while other options are more permanent. Think about your needs while you’re shopping to figure out what’s right for you.
Brilliant LED Lights
The standard-issue halogen lights that the factory puts on your motorcycle are fine, but they’re not exceedingly bright. So when you’re riding through thick fog or at night, you may not be able to see or be seen as well as you would like. Solve this issue and illuminate the road ahead by swapping out those halogen bulbs for bright LED lights. These lights use less energy, burn brighter and last for much longer, so they’re an economical and efficient choice. LED lights cost a little bit more to start, but they’re worth it for the improved visibility and bulb longevity.
Motorcycle Cover
When storing your bike, you don’t want to come back and find it covered in dirt and leaves. Save the finish on your bike and reduce rust by investing in a good-quality cover that snugly fits your motorcycle. There are lots of different options available, including waterproof covers for outdoor storage. Even if you store your bike inside, having a cover over it is still a good idea.
Windshield
If your bike doesn’t have a windshield, you’ve probably noticed that you can get pretty grimy during rides. You’re also going to be fighting against the fast-moving air around you, which can lead to wind fatigue, leaving you sore and tired at the end of your ride. Reduce the impact of wind and keep dead bugs and the rain from hitting you head-on by installing a windshield on your motorcycle. You can choose between polycarbonate and acrylic, with polycarbonate being more expensive and durable, but likely to yellow, and acrylic being less likely to yellow and cheaper, but more likely to scratch.
These are only a few of the dozens of choices for motorcycle accessories that you can install on your bike. Still in search of that perfect bike?
