Select Your Destination
Riding your motorcycle over a long distance will require you to pick a destination so that you aren’t riding around aimlessly. Think about how many miles you can ride comfortably over the course of a day. Ensure that your daily ride time includes breaks so that you don’t become too tired and unfocused, which can be dangerous.
Create Your Itinerary
You’ll want to choose a route that doesn’t have major obstructions, such as too much traffic or road construction, that is direct and on major thoroughfares. Riding a cruiser over backroads can lead to you becoming lost. You’ll want to pick places along the route you’ve chosen to rest, fuel up, eat, and stay for the night.
Pack With Care
Finally, you’ll need to ensure that you pack your bike with the items you’ll need. Make sure you’re balancing your cargo carefully and reducing the weight of your items as much as possible. You’ll want to have items like a repair kit, a flashlight, a radio, your phone with charger, and a first-aid kit. Panniers can be a good way to add some storage without adding too much bulk at the same time.
