Your Guide to Motorcycle Upgrades
For some, buying a motorcycle is just the first step. While there are those who are perfectly content with how the bike rolls out of the factory, there are a lot of reasons to modify your bike to better suit your style and preferred performance level. Some people know exactly what they want, but others need a little more guidance as far as what’s going to make them happy. We’ve outlined some motorcycle upgrades to make every ride more exciting, so read on to learn more!
Suspension
One of the more seemingly complex but very simple adjustments you can make is to change the suspension. Some people like a smoother ride, while others prefer a stiffer ride. There are many technical reasons for adjusting your suspension, and you may need to experiment a little before knowing where you’d like your suspension to be. Because of this, upgrading to a more easily adjustable suspension might be one of the most useful upgrades you can make.
Wheels
You can also take a look at your motorcycle’s wheels. There are practical reasons for choosing a certain type of tire, as your tires play an instrumental role in the kind of traction you get. They’ll also matter when it comes to how often you ride. A thin tire isn’t exactly well-suited for long trips and they also don’t provide the right traction to keep you grounded on windy roads. Then again, lighter wheels will give you better fuel efficiency and may be the better choice depending on your preferred suspension choice.
You can also get tires and wheels for a completely different purpose: style. Chromed-out wheels, white-wall tires, and fat back wheels make for great aesthetic choices. Whether you like them individually or are looking for a specific kind of style, like a chopper or cafe racer, changing your wheels can kick your ride into a new style realm.
LED Lights
Some motorcycles now come standard with LED lights, but there are still many models that don’t. This is especially true if you’re getting a pre-owned bike. Some old halogen bikes are effective, but LED lights give you brighter bulbs that use less power. LED lights come in a variety of colors and are available in strips as well. These can be mounted on the side of your bike to give your ride a nice glow as you’re cruising down the street.
